Doug Duncan is a meditation teacher born in Canada, and known for his energetic, insightful, humorous, and highly practical approach to teaching paths of awakening. His principal teacher was Ven. Namgyal Rinpoche, the illustrious Canadian-born lama who was recognized as an awakened being by the leaders of all four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism including His Holiness the Dalai Lama.  Namgyal Rinpoche was known for integrating traditional Theravadin, Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhist teachings in an eminently practical holistic approach that incorporates teachings of other mystical and religious traditions together with psychology, art and modern science.


Based on decades of practice and training with Namgyal Rinpoche in this comprehensive new approach to awakening, Doug Duncan has been teaching Dharma at centers around the world for over twenty years. He has done extensive insight practice and has received teachings from numerous Tibetan meditation masters including the 16th Karmapa, Kalu Rinpoche, Sakya Trizin Rinpoche, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and the Dalai Lama among others. Doug Duncan  has a thorough grasp of the sciences and arts, as well as an experienced and knowledgeable therapist.

Doug Duncan is primarily based in Japan and at the Clear Sky Meditation Centre in Canada, but also travels around the world teaching Dharma.

The classes in San Francisco are led by Greg Molkentin (aka-Karma Senge Drüpa).  Greg was first introduced to meditation when he was 16 but did not get “serious” about meditation until 1998 when he moved to Japan. Here he met his teacher, Achariya Doug Duncan (aka- Sensei) who he worked/ studied with daily for 8 years.

Thriving on the rich and eclectic practices of the Karma Kagyu lineage/Namgyal lineage.  Greg continues to study and travel with Achariya Doug Duncan.  He has also studied and traveled with the Venerable Namgyal Rinpoche for several years; and has received teachings from great teachers as Lama Lodu Rinpoche, Khenpo Tsultrim Rinpoche, and Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche and Pema Chodron. 

 

Greg is versed in Tibetan Buddhist tantric practices, studies of the Abhidhamma, the Western mystical tradition and Buddhist psychology. His varied background in philosophy, science, politics, and debating.  His varied expereince has given him ample opportunity to inspire the application of Buddhist teachings in daily life with practical, effective and creative techniques for a wide range of interested beings to practice with.

Greg has been give permission to teach meditation from his beloved teacher. Greg loves to explore and has traveled to over 34 countries, as well as dedicating himself whole-heartedly to a broad range of interests and practices such as yoga, photography, and scuba diving. In 2006, he was urged by his teacher to return to the States with the intention of bringing the practice out into the world.
